Moving on into the unknown

I am currently writing this at the Delridge library and guess what, they have their new Gates Computers. They have the leaf mouse pad out and the mouse doesn't work of course which is why I noticed they had "our" computers. They just have the hardware not the software. Also something to note, the one I am sitting at has the Centrurion Guard unlocked. I wonder if I should mention it.....
Last week I had two of my nieces staying with me and we did a bunch of seattle stuff. I did more Seattle stuff in three days than I have in 3 years. By the way, I highly recommend the Aquarium and sliding down the hills at the ballard locks on cardboard. Great fun! Another note, it had not rained in Seattle for a whole month and then we went biking.....
Well I must go now and get on with my eventful, unemployed life.

This if for those who haven't given up on me yet. So now that I no longer work with computers daily I haven't the discipline to get out the computer, dial up and log on. Sorry. But since I had to get on-line to file my unemployment I thought I'd update you all.
So I've been reading Steph's Blog and her life amazes me. Mine is not so exciting but I celebrate the little things like today, I went to take a shower and lo and behold my cold water faucet wouldn't work, which makes for a very quick, hot shower. However, with a little help from a library book, and the friendly helpful folks at McClendon's hardware, I was able to fix it. Hip Hip Hooray. I feel very proud of myself. Who needs a man when I can fix the plumbing in my house, by myself. Okay, so it took me 4 hours but I still fixed it.
So this week I am teaching VBS (Vacation Bible School) and my church. It is great fun, very energetic and fast. I'm teaching 2nd grade and having a blast. VBS is from 9:30 t0 12:00 but it flew by like no tomorrow. I had forgotten how much fun it is to teach children.
In other news, my tomatoes have gone crazy in this warm weather. I call it attack of the killer tomato plants. All the plants are above my waist, I am literaly up to my armpits in tomato plants. If you like garden fresh tomatoes let me know, By this time next week, ripe ones will be coming out my ears.
Till next time. For tomatoes, my e-mail is kristy5of5@juno.com

Well I have now experienced a full week and then some of unemployment. And let me tell you it is absolutely great! If any of you out there are still worried about you looming completion date let me say don't sweat it, being home more than two weeks absolutely rocks. I can actually make future plans with people and say, "sure I can do that" instead of saying "no, I'm sorry I'll be in Iowa, or Rhode Island or Texas or where ever."
So for a little update of whats happening. First of all, there was some excitement in the neighborhood last week when there was a somewhat serious accident in front of my house (I was not involved in the accident )on this quiet little street. No one was hurt which is amazing if you saw the cars, everybody was wearing seatbelts even if they were speeding. But the main thing from my perspective was thank goodness for the fire hidrant in front of my house, with out it there would be a red Ford Focus imbedded in my fence and possibly imbedded in my living room. But the fire hidrant prevented all that. The action brought out all the neighbors and I got to meet them all again. Oh yeah, I also got to call 911 for the first time ever.
Second, I don't know how I ever had time to work full time. Today I went for a bike ride with Gretchen which I enjoyed completly. It is good to know my bike still works. I also went house shopping with my roommate and she is making an offer on a super cute house. Tomorrow is volunteering at the food bank, and helping a friend move her stuff with my truck. Friday is the Jubilee house. Saturday is a baby shower and movie at the Freemont outdoor cinema. There is so much to do in Seattle. I love it. I haven't had time to hunkerdown in my house and do yard work.

Well, it is all over. I've finished up everything here at work. All the loose ends are tied up, I'm about ready to send my goodbye e-mail and turn in my laptop. It was odd to see the statistics that Ross gave me and realize I have literally been on the road, away from home for 1.43 years. No wonder I feel so disconnected from my family and non-trainer friends. Despite the incredible experience I am ready to move on and re-establish old relationships. I start tomorrow by having lunch with a good friend from my teaching days.
I know my blog is lame because y'all can't send comments. Despite my job I am still technically challanged and I really don't care for computers so don't expect the ability to comment to show up any time soon. So if you really have something to say my e-mail is kristy5of5@juno.com.
Several people have asked about the sushi place so here are some better directions. Sushi Land is on the corner of 5th ave and Valley. Go to the EMP at Seattle Center then go north on 5th ave approximately 3 more blocks. Sushi Land is across the street from a 7-11. They are open from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm every day including Sunday (I think). Happy eating.

Okay already! Gretchen is hassling me about starting a blog but then not posting anything. First of all it has only been 3 days and second of all I haven't had a computer or internet access, so there.
I went to Lunch with my sister. We talked sister and family stuff, nothing appropriate for a public blog. But we did go to Sushi at this new Sushi place just north of the Seattle Center. It is called Sushi Land and it is pretty cheap. It is set up like Dim Sum except with sushi. So you sit down at the counter or a booth and this conveyer belt goes around with little plates of different types of sushi. You just take want you want and you are charge by the plate when you are done. Green plates are $1, orange plates are $1.50, blue plates are $2.00 and purple plates are $3.00. It is a great way to try different types of sushi without paying a bunch of money. We both ate until we were full and the total cost was just over $13.00. We split that amount and paid about $6.50 each for a great Sushi lunch. It was like an adventure trying different things. Who would have thought that a hick farm girl like me would get hooked on sushi.
So Gretchen, there is my report.

Its not my fault. Gretchen Made me do it!
Apparently I have joined the Blogger world. And just think, 2 months ago I thought a blog was something that lived in a swamp and was closely related to the LocNess Monster.
